the contra medienwerkstatt was founded in 1991 and is located in the borough of Tempelhof-Schöneberg. we work in association with other social and cultural projects in a network of innovative and cross-cultural initiatives. since 2004 the medienwerkstatt has been a member of the förderband kulturinitiative in berlin.
the medienwerkstatt offers media courses for young people between the ages of 16 and 25. in addition to the opportunity for free artistic activity in the field of visual media, we also offer career counseling and advice for finding apprenticeship places, jobs and applying to university. the contra medienwerkstatt supports them in this most decisive crossover phase from school to job training and entry into the professional world. young people working at the medienwerkstatt have successfully applied for apprenticeships and university places for careers in cinematography, directing, photo design and graphic design.
in cooperation with the city vhs (adult education center) in berlin-mitte, contra medienwerkstatt offers multimedia courses open to the general public. these are aimed mainly at beginners, teaching how to handle a digital film camera, how to work with digital editing software, the basic rules of screen writing and film production for documentaries, short films or video clips.
